Organic cotton conformity to GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) through GMO determination.
Through DNA testing using Real Time PCR, our molecular biology laboratory is able to identify the presence of cotton grown from genetically modified seeds in batches of organic cotton. Organic cotton conforming to GOTS standards cannot contain cotton fibres from GM seeds. Our team checks GOTS organic cotton through the presence of GM organisms in the cotton, using IWA 32 test methods, specifically to determine the quality of GMOs in cotton and derivatives. The test, currently available in the laboratory, has been subjected to the ISO 17025 to guarantee the quality level required by some supervisory bodies.
